Personal Description: I am 25 year old graduate of Cambridge University with a degree in Social and Political Sciences, specialising in Revolutionary Theory and Politcal Thought. After working as a senior copywriter for a marketing agency, I chose to move back to Cambridge to work full time as a freelance writer and private tutor.
I am friendly, patient and approachable with a knack for explaining complex issues in the simplest ways possible.
Tutoring Experience: I started doing private tuition last year and have since helped a number of students with Oxbridge applications and mock interviews.
In my role as Account manager and senior copywriter at a marketing agency it was my job to conduct staff training as well as presenting information to clients.
Tutoring Approach: Having studied at Cambridge, I am firm advocate in the style of tuition offered by the university. One to one sessions that use a starting point as a point of discussion. By contextualising issues and topics in a wider context it can be easier to understand the subject in question. This is a more effective approach than attacking a series of essays or questions immediately. However I am aware tha this approach is not effective for all students.
After an initial assessment session where I look at the student's work and talk to them about the topics in question I will set appropriate work to be submitted before the next session. We will then work together to find a style of studying that works for each particular student.
Qualifications:
Four grade 'A' A Levels: History, Politics, Religious Studies and General Studies

From Lynda Morrisroe (5/5): Alex is an excellent tutor in every respect. He knows his subject very well and takes time to prepare sessions closely linked to the learning needs of the student. His sessions are very helpful and enjoyable and delivered with humour and empathy.
