Information About Amy
Personal Description: I feel I am friendly, approachable, and I enjoy meeting new people. I am passionate about teaching and I find it extremely rewarding.
Tutoring Experience: I am currently in my third year of a Primary Education BA for Junior Years, through which I will gain both a degree and a PGCE. Through this course's teaching placements I have gained experience in planning for the curriculum, marking, classroom management and the various needs of different children and abilities. Before I started my degree I gained experience with children through voluntary placements at primary schools in my area, as well as through schemes within my high school and sixth form. Along side my Primary Education course I am also studying History, which is therefore my 'specialist' subject within the primary school system. On this course I study along side the degree program, simply taking a few less hours of lectures etc. This, I feel, means I would be ideally suited to tutor a child in history up to GCSE age.
Tutoring Approach: I feel that tutoring should depend on the individual child, catering for whatever needs they have, and the purpose of the tutoring session, whether it be to help the child reach school set targets or to stimulate them beyond the classroom setting. Some children respond better to textbook learning, others find they learn better through activities. I am happy to adapt my lesson content to suit the child.
