Information About Amy
Personal Description: I am 22 and have just finished studying Mathematics at New College, Oxford University. I have a 6 month break between the end of my exams and work starting in January, so I will be available to tutor in Essex until then (when I will be moving to London). Outside my academic committments I have been involved in various other aspects of university life, especially rowing, which I have coached for most of my time there. I have a tendency to find myself coaching the sports I enjoy, which I think comes down to the fact that I love to explain things and help people to understand!
Tutoring Experience: I had experience tutoring mathematics at GCSE and primary level while I was in 6th form at school, and really enjoyed the experience. Since then I have also coached karate, judo and rowing, and whilst these are not academic subjects, they have still helped to further my communication skills and my ability to get ideas across to people. I am comfortable communicating with all ages.
Tutoring Approach: If the tutee has a specific piece of work or section of a syllabus to cover, I'd like to see it (or know what it is) prior to the tute, so that I can work out the best way to explain the concepts involved. I'd like to know what (if any) specific problems the tutee has with this subject area first too.
If the tutoring requires a more general approach then I will split the area up into sensible sections and work through it at a pace that suits the tutee.

From Jacqueline Baker (5/5): I can honestly say just two words regarding Amy - "absolutely amazing". My two daughters, particularly the eldest, were falling behind with basic maths for their age, In just four weeks, my eldest has been removed from her extra tuition class at school due to catching up and her sister is now enthusiastic regarding maths.
Amy is beyond her years for attitude, immense patience, politeness and willing to help others. My daughters adore her and cannot wait for each Thursday for their lessons.
I cannot recommend Amy high enough and would not trust anyone else with my children.
From Jiawei Hu (5/5): Very good tuitoring and patient
