Information About Andrew
Personal Description: I love travelling, reading, creative writing, theatre, live music - as an audience member, but also as a singer/drummer in 2 local bands - eating out and socialising.
Tutoring Experience: I have taught in mainstream secondary schools for seven years, and in a special needs secondary (for students with Severe Learning Difficulties and Profound, Multiple Learning Difficulties) for four years.
I have also taught extensively as a supply teacher, although I have done jobs unconnected with teaching, including hospital porter, actor and driver.
Tutoring Approach: Learning should be fun and delivered through the practitioner's personality and sense of humour.
If the session ends without the tutor him/herself being taught something, then the session has not worked as well as it should have.
As the Roman said, 'The true art of learning is that it conceals learning'. Remove the pressure; there are always other options and second chances; students learn more when having fun and losing their anxieties.
