Personal Description: I am an experienced, fully-qualified teacher currently teaching Science at Clyst Vale Community College, a specialist Science and ICT facility. Prior to teaching I worked for both AstraZeneca and Medeval in their clinical trials units so have a good working knowledge of science outside education.
A keen surfer and rock climber, I also enjoy reading and playing the guitar.
I am currently studying for an Masters in Educational Psychology at Plymouth University.
Tutoring Experience: I have four years teaching both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 science. I currently teach Human Biology and Biology at AS and A' Level.
I have experience with the following GCSE exams boards:
AQA, OCR, 21st. Century Science, NEAB and OUP.
Tutoring Approach: I involve the use of ICT in my teaching as I find models and animations the best way to create understanding of science concepts. Teaching for the last four years has given a good insight into why students fail at their studies both at GCSE and A' level. Students are expected to actively learn and participate during tutorials, as I find the passive approach taken by most colleges isn't effective for learning.
I have successfully tutored a number of both AS and A2 students through the exam process so far and have thoroughly enjoy the experience.
Qualifications:
