Information About Chris

Personal Description: Between 1998 and 2001 I completed a degree in Biological Natural Sciences at Christ's College, Cambridge. This comprised topics including physical and biological mathematics, organic chemistry, physiology, pharmacology and cell biology.

From **Telephone Number Removed** worked towards a PhD in Molecular Pharmacology - specifically based on the genetic effects of certain anti-cancer drugs. I was awarded my PhD at the end of August 2005. I was also awarded an MA in April 2005.

Currently, I lead the Molecular Biology and Translational Research Departments at a small biopharmaceutical firm (Spirogen Ltd.) based in Central London.

Tutoring Experience: 4 Years - University Undergraduate Level Teaching in Pharmacology

1 Year - A2 and AS Level Teaching in Maths, Chemistry & Biology (incl. coursework)

1 Year - ad hoc lecturing in Professional Educational Development for Tutors

Tutoring Approach: My approach is generally problem-based and tailored specifically towards the exams. This means tutees are introduced to exam-style or actual exam questions very early on. Not only is this a means of ensuring continually relevant tuition but also it focuses students on what it is they're being asked to work towards.

There is, of course, plenty of scope for divergence into other less relevant but highly interesting arenas. However, this method is student-dependent and does not suit everyone. It is therefore only employed when requested.

Qualifications:
  • PhD (Molecular Pharmacology)
  • MA Hons Cantab (Natural Sciences)
  • 4 A Levels: all at 'A' grade - Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry & Biology
  • 10 GCSEs: 8 A*, 2 A

From carol connor (5/5): We've found the tutorials really benficial to back up what we've been learning at college.
Chris is really prepared for the lessons and asks ahead of the sessions what we want to cover, so we can get the most out of our tutoring.
