Personal Description: I believe it is key to be able to explain science in simple terms. This is a necessary skill when teaching at all levels. Less scientifically minded pupils soon find out that the work is not beyond them. I am both conscientious and caring and feel a sense of professional pride when my tutees are successful.

Tutoring Experience: I am an experienced teacher of physics, chemistry and combined science, and a past Head of Science, specialising in Chemistry and have a proven record of success for both higher level and foundation GCSE - all tutees have achieved either AA/ A*A* in higher papers, or the maximum available grade of CC in foundation papers.

I have also successfully prepared pupils for Common Entrance and Scholarship Papers.

Tutoring Approach: I believe it is most important to gain my tutees' confidence and to give them self-confidence. During my first session with a tutee I establish their method of learning and their level of knowledge and build on this by praising achievement and encouraging deeper thought. My focus throughtout is 'the syllabus' and the fact that all the exam questions come from it - this fact gives tutees both structure and sets goals to their learning. The final key part of my tuition style is to teach exam technique and to encourage use of simple rules.
