Information About David
Personal Description: I am twenty seven years old and currently working towards a Ph.D in English Literature. I have an excellent publication and teaching record in this discipline, working with both undergraduate students and in a special program with A-level equivalent students in Australia.
Tutoring Experience: Over the past two years I have taught a range of subjects in this area, from general literature courses to film studies and more interdisciplinary philosophical literary studies. In 2006 I was nominated by two students for a University Teaching Excellence Award, and my peer teaching feedback has always scored very highly in subject knowledge, student encouragement, and pastoral care of students.
Tutoring Approach: My approach to one-on-one tutoring is to decided:
(a) whether I can help the student achieve his/her goals
(b) if so, agreeing with the student and parents on how much time needs to be spent (on average) working toward this
(c) gaining the active commitment of students and parents in backing up the work done in tutorials by monitoring homework set, etc.
(d) monitoring the student's progress at each session and giving encouragement to student and feedback to parents in order to look after the students' emotional needs
