Information About David

Personal Description: Experienced and enthusiastic home tutor, motivated to help children and adults reach their true potential both in Maths and Science from year 7 up to A level. 100% of students achieved A*-C grades in GCSE maths and science in 2007.

Tutoring Experience: Worked in IT for many years, then changed careers and trained as an A level physics teacher. Now I focus solely on one one to one tuition.
Home tutored since 2004 I have achieved excellent outcomes with 70+ students, at KS3, GCSE maths and science and A level Maths and Physics.

If you are a new teachers trying to pass your numeracy test I can also help you achieve success in this more stressful of exercises. Recently I have coached 4 trainee teacher through their QTS numeracy.
If you need a Maths C grade for teaching or university entry I can provide equivalency testing without the need to attend a year long course.

Tutoring Approach: Often the core difficulty is to do with confidence. I assess the students level at the first lesson and move seamlessly onto improving confidence by ensuring exercises are pitched at the right level. I use a table sized white board laid horizontally and watch the students as they tackle questions that I set. Closer to exams, I use past papers (plus those from my web site mathsmadeeasy) to ensure students are familiar with all the types of questions.
I have been successful in teaching students with dsylexia and dyspraxia and those with low self esteem.

From Charlotte Gilbert (5/5): David is very patient and uses practical approaches to teaching, taking into account the learning style of his learners. Since having tuition sessions with David I have learnt to be much quicker at mental mathematics and have learnt new strategies for solving a range of mathematical problems quickly; rather than using the old fashion route taught at school many years ago! The learning environment supports 1-1 learning and David has a great rapport . I would recommend David as an excellent tutor who has supported me in regaining my self confidence in a subject I have found difficult, but not anymore!
