Personal Description: I have recently graduated from the University of Glamorgan with a strong 2:1 degree in English Literature and in the future I plan to do a masters in the same subject and then go on to teach professionally. My degree covered multiple facets of the English canon from classics to contemporary and I am a frequent reader so I have a good understanding of most of the texts that are likely to appear in the curriculum and am more than happy to put in the homework and tackle any more obscure texts you would like to study.

I also run a fledging art business, focusing mostly on portrait paintings but also experimenting with lots of different styles. I am very happy to offer tuition in either of these subjects. I studied art at A-Level but eventually made the difficult decision to follow the English path and continue with art just for the joy of it. I am very passionate about the subjects that I love and am really looking forwards to being able to share them.

Tutoring Experience: I volunteered as a teaching assistant at a secondary school in Rhydyfelin for 2 months and assisted in lessons in Art (from years 7-11), English (at A-level) and I also helped out with the year 7 special needs class which was very rewarding.
I've spent a lot of time volunteering and working as a classroom assistant at Stoke Park Infant School and I've also provided private tuition for a mature student at foundation degree level.

I have also been lucky enough to be twice invited to Stoke Park Infant School in Bishopstoke during their annual art week as a featured artist and have spent a very enjoyable few days taking whole classes (Reception - year 2) at a time for art workshops. I am quite confident with this and really enjoyed being able to see the fast development of the pupils during the time I spent with them. Because of my close relationship with this school I have on several other occasions volunteered to spend days there assisting more generally with the children on all subjects.

Tutoring Approach: As a tutor I am very patient and happy to work with a whole spectrum of ability levels and ages. I come from a very teaching orientated background in that both my parents have been in the profession in excess of 20 years each. As a result of this I have a good knowledge of the system as well as easy access to extra teaching resources.

I am a firm believer that you learn best when you are having fun and that passion for a subject is contagious and I certainly have that. Having only fairly recently come out of the education system myself I understand the best ways to break down the subjects and manage revision and exam techniques. I am also very good at finding creative ways to help each individual student grasp the subject based on their own individual learning style.
