Personal Description: My name is Elaine and I am 53 years of age. I am married with two grown up sons. I love to read all kinds of books, but my favorite genre is horror, although I do still like to read Shakespeare, Dickens etc. I enjoy listening to all kinds of music from classical to modern. I am currently in the process of writing a novel and also tutoring in my spare time. I gained my 2.1 Combined honors degree from the University of Liverpool last July, so learning is still uppermost in my mind.

Tutoring Experience: I do not have a teacher qualification as yet but have tutored several pupils within my family and outside. I have also headed tutorials at University.

Tutoring Approach: I believe in teaching at a rate that suits the pupil. I do not believe in bombarding the pupil with long and complicated words or concepts. I like to find out about my pupils likes and dislikes because I firmly believe that if someone has an interest in something then it aids their learning. Because I have been in the learning zone for the past eight years I feel that I can empathise with the pupil who is struggling, as I have struggled in the past. I can see education from both sides. I have a very flexible approach to learning and try to bring some humour into the classroom.
I am fair and very patient when someone cannot grasp an idea or concept and I try to show the idea in a way that the pupil can grasp.

Qualifications:

• BA honors degree/ combined honors in English and History 2.1
• A Level English Literature
• GCSE English Language.
