Information About Elaine
Personal Description: I graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1992 with a BA (Hons) French /Irish, and with a distinction in spoken languages. After many successful years working in industry in London using my spoken French, I decided to make a change in career to enable me better to use and develop my interpersonal skills ad creative abilities. I completed a PGCE in secondary Modern Foreign Languages and have thoroughly enjoyed being a teacher of French before my career break to start a family in 2002.
I live on the Isle of Wight. I am married with 2 children. Currently I teach French at a local Adult Education College on a part-time basis. I also tutor French privately from my home to students of all levels.
Tutoring Experience: I love my subject and have in the past very much enjoyed the challenge of teaching French to students of all levels. I taught GCSE and A level students in highly rated grammar and secondary schools with significant improvements in results to students under my tutelage.
Tutoring Approach: I have always had a passion for French language and culture. From the age of 15 years old I started visiting France, initially spending summers as an au pair to French families and then I went on to spend 2 years during the course of my four year degree teaching English as a foreign language in two very different regions of France. I have many French friends with whom I am in regular contact.
I am interested in languages generally. I am currently learning Italian. As a learner myself I know how difficult it can be to acquire another language. It is however a wonderfully rewarding pursuit. More than anything I like to see my students gain in confidence as their better understanding of French takes them to higher levels of learning.
