Information About Eleanor

Personal Description: Hi everyone! I am currently in my second year at the University of Bristol studying Classics/Ancient History and really enjoying every minute of it. The city is a lot different to my quaint home village in Surrey and i am fully embracing all that Bristol has to offer. Being interested in the ancient world, i joined the Archaeology society and hope to take part in a dig soon.
I studied French to AS level and took English Literature A level so i am confident in bringing enough knowledge to tutees of up to a similar level. Although i did not do an A level in French, i have managed to keep my knowledge and even further my skills in the language because one of my best friends at university chose French as an open unit last year having no previous experience and came to me about once a week for an informal tutoring session.

Tutoring Experience: I have had an incredibly valuable experience teaching English to children and adults in a summer school in Albania. The children were so enthusiastic and i felt so pleased when some of the orphans managed to get a basic grasp of the English language, having never seen a written English word before.
Working as a team was great because we managed to pull out ideas together and create dynamic teaching methods to make the lessons exciting and the material more approachable. I think that this experience will help me to tutor in a way to make my tutee get the best out of my teaching.

Tutoring Approach: I enjoy one-to-one teaching because it allows me to focus on the teaching needs of one person and it undoubtedly benefits the tutee to feel that they are getting the full attention they deserve.
I was a Peer Mentor for my school which helped me develop my communication skills and problem-solving skills, which i think are vital in tutoring so that the tutee can feel completely comfortable with their tutor. I am a warm, friendly and caring person and will teach to the best of my abilities to ensure my tutee accumulates the skills of the subjects and can use them the rest of their lives.
Aswell as helping a tutee with certain homework assignments, tips for essay writing, or answer any general questions about the subjects, i can devise extra work or exercises based on what i believe will benefit the tutee and help them excel in the subject.

  • I received an A at A level for English Literature.
