Information About Emma

Personal Description: Hello, my name is Emma Yeadon and I am 21 years of age. I have completed a primary education foundation degree and am currently studying in my second year at the University of Durham to become a primary school teacher. I am a bright and bubbly person who is kind and approachable. I am honest and adaptable with good manners and strong values. I believe that my hardworking and dedicated personality help me to meet the high standards that education requires.

Tutoring Experience: During my time at University I have worked in a variety of schools in both the Stockton and Darlington area. I have teaching experience in a wide range of curriculum subjects in both key stages 1 and 2. I have just completed my second year - four week teaching post; during this time I was responsible for the planning, delivery and assessment for the majority of lessons in Year 5. I thoroughly enjoy being surrounded by bright young minds and believe that when a child is equipped with the right tools for learning the sky is their limit. It is an indescribable feeling when you help a child to realise their potential and reach their goals.

Tutoring Approach: I intend to follow the National Curriculum and New DfeS framework for Literacy and Numeracy. I have access to a variety of educational resources to support children’s learning.
I feel that it is highly important to assess the child's current understanding of the subject area before designing a personalised learning programme. The programme would be designed on the basis of discussions with the child, their parents and where appropriate the child's school teacher. I am sensitive to children's feelings and attitudes towards learning and would try to design lessons based on their learning style as well as their ability.
I feel that a vital part of the learning process is to set clear expectations for children and include them in their own learning as much as possible. I intend to get children motivated to learn and build a passion for learning that they will carry with them into secondary school. I aim for high standards in both education and behaviour and propose to do this by being fair and consistent the children. I also feel that it is important to communicate with parents about their child's progress and to follow any reward systems that may be in place in the home environment.
