Personal Description: I am a qualified Mathematics and ICT teacher, with over 13 years of industrial and business experience of ICT. Along with teaching I am also design and build websites for not-for-profit and charity organisations; allowing me to maintain my knowledge and expertise within the ICT field.
Outside of work, I record and play music, enjoy running and rock climbing.
Tutoring Experience: After qualifying for secondary and post-16 education in 1997 I have worked in a variety of private and state schools as well as within sixth form establishments. I have undertaken courses for adults wishing to gain an understanding of computers (Basic ICT) through to professionals within the medical field on how to use the main applications.
My teaching has involved Maths and ICT at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, Business Studies at Key Stages 4 and 5 and Computing at Key Stage 5.
As a professional teacher I have held positions ranging from classroom teacher to Head of Department and finally Director of ICT. I currently teach ICT and Business Studies in a secondary school with a sixth form in East Sussex.
Tutoring Approach: I enjoy a relaxed and calm atmosphere, where learning is fun and problems are to be solved and not a burden. Nothing is impossible and the more difficult the challenge the greater the reward. I use online services, Virtual Learning Environments, revision guides and past papers.
I prefer to see learning as a whole-life experience and so try to ensure that what is being taught has a clear real-world purpose.
From Agnieszka Moore (5/5): Gary has a great demeanour and drive about him which fires enthsiasm in the tutee. He has a good method of delivery and I would recommend him to anyone.
