Information About George
Personal Description: I am a recent Oxford graduate in Classics and English, and hope to pursue a career in teaching after studying for a PGCE next year. My passion for Latin and Greek literature and language, English literature and language, and History, stems from my belief that their study is not only rewarding intellectually, giving pupils analytical skills that match those of any science, but also emotionally, helping a pupil to understand the world around him or her, and the myriad approaches that an individual can take to life.
Tutoring Experience: As of now, I am new to teaching, but have in my education both at school and university experienced the very best in individual tuition, learning skills and approaches that I can bring with me to my own tutees.
Tutoring Approach: All the subjects that I am offering I have studied as part of my degree, and in doing so I have experienced the very best in one-on-one tutoring, as well as the freshest ideas about the subjects. This, as well as the fact that much of my schooling was done in groups of less than five, means that I have come to see individual or small-group tutoring as not only the best way to help an individual to develop intellectually, but also to feel involved with his or her subject, creating a personal tie that encourages further study and interest. Whilst always pragmatic about the need to do well in exams, I believe that study of individual interests beyond the syllabus can only be beneficial to a student, as it encourages an attachment to the subject and the development of skills that will in fact make passing exams easier, and study more enjoyable.
