Personal Description: My name is Ian, and I am 57 years old physically, but 21 mentally. I have a BSc Hons in Maths/Physics with secondary subject of Statistics and Computing. I have 5 children all of whom have gone through University, one is a doctor and one a teacher.
I have spent most of my life in the IT industry, from which I have just retired.
I now wish to return my skills, experience and passion for science and mathematics back to the community.

Tutoring Experience: I teach after school classes (primary school) and evening classes of 5 - 15 (secondary school and mature students), and large groups of 25-100 executives in various countries.

Tutoring Approach: I have an ability to make difficult subjects appear easy, and boring subjects interesting. I ensure that students understand the concepts and can apply them to different situations. I always tailored my approach to the needs of the specific student – addressing areas of difficulty and doing practice questions to consolidate student understanding. I have a friendly, approachable style to ensure that the student is at ease to ask any questions. Indeed I encourage questions on the subject at hand and any related issues. I will do past papers, if requested, near exam time.

From Ken Duggan (5/5): Ian is very enthusiastic and clearly loves talking science. Our Daughter took to him instantly and he manages to teach the subject in a language our daughter can understand. The evenings Ian is due are not seen as a chore and Sophie is gaining a fresh knowledge and understanding for her science subjects at school. I would recommend Ian to anyone.
