I am a qualified teacher and Chartered Chemist with over 9 years teaching/tutoring experience in the sciences. I am based centrally in Lanarkshire and lessons can be conducted in the privacy of your home or on my premises, whichever is most convenient. Please note that I do add a small mileage charge to cover travelling expenses.

Tutoring Experience: My teaching career began in personal tuition, when I took a career break from industry and was asked to help family friends through their exams. I discovered a talent and enjoyment in teaching and went on to train formally, teaching in comprehensive schools in South Lanarkshire and West Lothian. My formal qualifications are in chemistry, and I have over nine years experience teaching and tutoring the other sciences alongside chemistry.

Tutoring Approach: The advantage of personal tuition is that teaching methods can be adjusted to suit the individual's learning needs, so my approach will depend on your needs! However, in general I use an 'active learning' approach, employing online activities and worksheets/past papers. Theory work at home is linked to any practical work in class. Summary notes will be provided at the end of each topic/unit, and homework activities may be issued between lessons.
