Information About Isabel

Personal Description: My name is Isabel and I'm a recent graduate with a first class degree from the University of York in History of Art. I am about to commence a funded MA in History of Art (with English) at York.
My next big project is to study for a PhD with the English department at Cambridge, following my MA. I'm attracted to those dreaming spires!
I love to teach and am able to instruct in any level of English Language and Literature up to A Level. I am also enthusistic about teaching creative writing to adult learners, so Mum and Dad, if that sounds like something you might be interested in, let me know!

Tutoring Experience: As a young tutor, I have recent experience of the GSCE and A Level Syllabus, taught in one of the top-rated non-fee paying schools in the Southeast. I have worked in a variety of mentoring and teaching role with children of all ages. I have worked as a nanny, as a teaching assistant at Kumon after-school English classes, with dyslexic students on a one-to-one basis at GCSE level, and as a mentor for young people on bail in the community.
I plan to make a career of teaching at University level and am passionate, patient and enthusiastic about my subject!

Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is friendly and easygoing, as I believe that above all, learning new things is great fun with the right attitude! I enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds. I believe that everyone has the potential to succeed and I enjoy bringing out the best in my students.
I have a strong interest in drawing students' attention to details of spelling and grammar, as I believe that an understanding of the beauty and complexity of the english language lays the foundations for a lifelong enjoyment of our linguistic and literary heritage.

Qualifications:
  • I am about to commence a postgraduate degree in History of Art and English. I received a scholarship for this place after gaining an average first class grade of 71% in my undergraduate degree.
  • I have A Levels In English Literature (A), Religious Studies (A) and History (B)
