Personal Description: I love the challenge of teaching and particularly enjoy helping students who have had to overcome difficulties and challenges in order to achieve their goals. I am friendly, warm and empathetic . I know how important it is for my students to feel relaxed and comfortable with me. I see my role as making psychology accessible and digestible. I will never leave a topic until I am sure the student fully understands it. My sessions are relaxed and informal but I ensure students achieve at a high level.
Tutoring Experience: I have taught psychology at my local Further Education College for eleven years.I am responsible for delivery of the Access to Higher Education Psychology module. I have taught AS and A level Psychology for ten years to all age ranges. Together with a colleague we consistently achieved the highest Psychology A level results in the area - between 85 - 95% A to C.
Tutoring Approach: I love teaching psychology! I offer tuition at A level, GCSE and adult courses - especially Access courses. I make sure that my A level and GCSE students are carefully prepared for the specific requirements of their examination board. Learning should be enjoyable and experience has taught me that students respond to praise and encouragement. Psychology is a fascinating and very broad subject and it is easy for students to feel overwhelmed. It is vital that students are taught how to use their knowledge effectively. I teach people how to pass psychology exams. I also give thorough and clear guidance for coursework and have regularly been congratulated on the quality of the coursework submitted by my students. My promise to my students is that I will ensure the achieve the highest grade they are capable of. My students' 'value-added' results at A level were regularly 'outstandingly excellent' (according to Ofsted formula)
