Personal Description: Hi there. I recently graduated from the University of Liverpool with Combined Honours Science- studying Business and Philosophy. I am working to be a Maths teacher at secondary level. I have had to work very hard to get where I am today, so am very aware that people do not always get what they want first time round and may need a little help sometimes :) My younger brother has special needs which has developed my patience and understanding over the years. I have discovered that I like helping people, especially those who find studying a little difficult, but love to nurture and stimulate the education of those who have a thirst for knowledge!

Tutoring Experience: Several placements in schools; one primary school placement working with children aged 5-6 as a general classroom assistant; one in a girls secondary school helping those who find it slightly more difficult reading; and one placement in a complex learning difficulties school helping with various subjects, to students with a range of special needs, from Down's Syndrome to Autism to ADHD. I am due to start my PGCE in September.

Tutoring Approach: I have worked with many different types of students and have come to realise everyone has very different methods of learning. If the student finds a tutor they have respect for and receive respect in return, learning is so much easier to cope with. If I get to know little facts about the student's personality, this enables me to think of teaching methods which would relate to them and therefore help them learn in the best and quickest way possible. My age, I think, is a quality to have for tutoring, as I can interact with students better and be able to speak to them on a level they understand and are comfortable with. Schools have not changed too much since I myself was studying at them so I can relate to what young students are going through and the pressures they face.
