Information About Jenny

Personal Description: I am 24, originally from Portsmouth on the South coast of England, and am currently in my fourth year of studying for a post-graduate degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at Edinburgh University. I have a degree in Biological Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, which included topics such as Biochemistry, Physiology, Animal Science, Veterinary Anatomy, and Pathology. I am very enthusiastic about my subject, and would love the opportunity to help those younger than me achieve their goals.

Tutoring Experience: I have worked with young children from when I was 16 years old at a YMCA centre, teaching them social and practical skills. I have also worked unofficially as a tutor in Cambridge for the first year students on Biology courses, helping them through those areas that they found more difficult. I've been tutoring pupils of age 16-18 in Edinburgh for over two years now and thoroughly enjoy it. I come from an education background and so have many people to give me ideas and suggestions to make my teaching more successful and effective!

Tutoring Approach: I am a great believer in covering past papers and exam questions, and working through problems to explain ideas. I am happy to concentrate on areas the student finds difficult, and go faster through those areas he or she is happy with (although I think it is beneficial to cover all areas where possible as most topics on a course are interlinked). Having had tutors myself I have experience of various different approaches that can be used depending on what suits the student best.
