Personal Description: I am a 35 year old mature student studying towards BA History at the University of Stirling. My breadth of knowledge is varied having studied American History, Environmental History and Scottish History. At this time I am researching the History of Black people in Britain and Irish History **Telephone Number Removed** . Upon completing my degree course I will undertake a Postgraduate course which enable me to teach in Secondary schools and Colleges
Tutoring Experience: Alongside my History studies I have also completed two Education courses at University level which have enabled me to understand modern teaching approaches. I also have tutoring experience in a voluntary capacity, working with housebound elderly people in a one-to-one capacity. In September 2008 I completed a weeks work experience at an Edinburgh college.
Tutoring Approach: Informal and flexible and focus on the needs of the pupil with an emphasis on history specific study skills. My philosophy is to show that history, whilst challenging, is a satisfying and enlightening experience. I have a vast collection of History books which can be made available via photocopies and I am also provide past exam papers. I am also able to advise on essay writing and study-skills.
