Personal Description: My name is Kathleen Thomson and I am a qualified Spanish, French and TEFL teacher. I love languages and am passionate about helping students learn to communicate with people from other countries and cultures. I enjoy travelling and have lived in Spain, France and Australia. I also enjoy sport and I regularly run, swim and ski. I am 28 years old, married and have an eight month old son who keep me very busy!

Tutoring Experience: - 1 year teaching Spanish and French at all secondary levels in Glasgow, Scotland.
- I year teaching English to Spanish students at nursery and secondary level in Gijon, Spain.
-2 years teaching English to foreign students at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels in Sydney, Australia.

Tutoring Approach: I start by discussing with the tutee what he/she is aiming to achieve through the tutoring sessions. For example it may be to practise Spanish conversation, or French grammar. Perhaps the aim may be to revise and consolidate a topic that the student has already covered in school. I then structure my classes according to the needs of the student and deliver them in a lively, interactive manner. I use a variety of different resources: text books, CDs/DVDs, computer, newspapers, magazines etc. It takes courage to practise and master a foreign language and having done this myself I successfully motivate my students to enjoy doing it for themselves.

• Trinity CertTESOL (Trinity Certificate of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)
