Information About Katie

Personal Description: I am a Primary School Teacher currently living and working in Northampton and have been teaching for five years. I consider myself a kind and caring teacher with an approach to education that ensures children are excited, motivated and stimulated to learn.

I am available to tutor during school holidays as well at weekends amd evenings.

Tutoring Experience: I have had a vast range of experience working with children from Nursery age to Year 6 from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. My first school bought the challenge of teaching a mixed class of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in a small village school and I have recently finished working in a large town school with a class of single year grouped children. I am excited about my next career move which will involve management responsibility leading a team of teachers and teaching assistants as well as teaching a single year grouped class of children in a large town school. I am fully aware of the National Curriculum and all that it entails including preparing children for SATS.

Tutoring Approach: Having taught for 5 years, I am fully aware of the difficulties and challenges that primary school aged children face with both the curriculum and social demands in school. Some children are afriad to ask or feel embrassed within the classroom environment with their peers and if they don't understand something. Both my teaching and tutoring approach to learning is understanding that children learn and retain information if it is delivered to them in a way that they, as an individual, find stimulating and interesting. All children are very different and what may work for one may not work for another. I feel it is vital to ensure that learning is tailored to that child's individual specific needs to ensure that they meet their full potential.
