Personal Description: I am a warm friendly person, who enjoys working with children and adults alike. I like fun, creative activities which stimulate the mind and encourage learning whilst implementing a feeling of achievement. Although I am in my early 20's, I view this an advantage as it means I am compassionate towards children and can understand their actions and reasons behind it.
Working with and teaching children is something I am passionate about and am dedicated to providing children with a rich, fun-filled, intellectual curriculum, where they can excel and surpass themselves more so than being educated in a school-like environment.
Tutoring Experience: Although I have only tutored 2 children, I believe that I have the skills and aptitude to continue in this line of work and tutor other children. I have a Bachelor of Education Degree with Honours (BEd Hons) from the College of St Mark and St John (with university status). The course was 4 years long and during that time I taught from between 28-36 pupils at one time in a variety of different schools, some more challenging than others, in different cachement areas. I believe this variety of schools and cachement areas improved my skills as a teacher, especially being able to handle the different situations that arose.
As well as competently teaching the curriculum subjects (e.g. English, Maths, Science, History, Geogrpahy etc), I am able to teach basic french and spanish and other activities (such as knitting, sewing) that you might find in school clubs.
Tutoring Approach: As I have mentioned earlier, I believe that learning should be fun and creative, as this keeps the child interested and involved within the topic. Breaks are essential to helping a child learn as it gives them a chance to 'recharge their batteries' and absorb and take in what has been learnt. I perfer to teach more than one method to learning something new as every child learns differently and may prefer or identify with one method over another.
