Information About Lauren
Personal Description: I studied English at Stirling University where I attained a BA Hons. In addition to this, I also studied French until my third year. I attained a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) from St Andrew's College (Glasgow University) and am now a GTC registered Secondary School teacher. I am also the mother of two lovely children.
Tutoring Experience: I currently work as a Secondary school English teacher and have been doing so for the last 10 years. During that time, I have taught in 3 Secondary schools and have taught English at all levels from S1 to Standard Grade, Intermediate 1 & 2 and Higher. I have privately tutored in English at Pimary School level, Standard Grade & Higher.
Tutoring Approach: As a Secondary school teacher, as well as the mother of a 15 year old, I understand how frustrating it can be when one subject in particular is causing you problems. I also have excellent knowledge of the level of expertise required at all levels of SQA examinations. Thus, I can help to target pupils' areas of particular difficulty and tailor work towards this, whether in the study of language or literaure. I have a good rapport with the children I teach and see myself as very approachable. I feel, therefore, that any pupils I tutor will feel comfortable enough to discuss with me their strengths and weaknesses in order to build on improving their overall performance in the subject.
