Information About Lindsay
Personal Description: I consider myself to be a caring and enthusiastic tutor, with the ability to build a good rapport with my students. I have had experience of tutoring foreign students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, both in the UK and abroad. I spent a year teaching English in Japan, which I particularly enjoyed. Students at all levels are welcome. 25% discount offered for group lessons.
I have a degree in English and hold the International Baccalaureate Diploma. I successfully completed the English component of this course at Higher level. and am experienced in tutoring GCSE and 'A' level English students. I hold the International Baccalaureate diploma and would be willing to work with students preparing for the English component, both at Higher and Standard levels. I am trained and experienced in helping children to read and have experience in tutoring schoolchildren from the age of 7 upwards. I am able to offer support to those students preparing for the 11+ exam.
Tutoring Experience: I have experience of teaching students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, both in this country and aborad. I have worked with both mono-lingual and multi-lingual classes.
I have experience of tutoring GCSE English students, choosing, in consultation with the student, the texts to be studied, planning a coursework schedule and guiding the students through the complete course. My students have all gained top marks in GCSE exams.
I am trained and experienced in helping children to read and have tutored those preparing for SATS, the 11+ and students of secondary school age requiring extra help with English.
Tutoring Approach: I believe that tuition sessions should be student-led and will happily work on anything the student needs help with, be it a particular piece of work or a subject area that is causing particular difficulty. I always have a plan for any given session and will be able to provide ideas and guidance for any particular session if the student is unsure of the particular help they need.

CETLA certificate, English (Hons) degree, International Baccalaureate (English, French and Psychology studided at Higher level).
