Information About Liz

Personal Description: I am an experienced, professional tutor with an enthusiastic approach to helping my students achieve their best, whatever their level of ability.

Tutoring Experience: I have experience of teaching in a wide range of settings, including nursery and primary schools, environmental education centres for children of all ages and through private tuition with both children and adult learners.

As a private tutor I have successfully taught both gifted and struggling KS1 and KS2 children (primary) in Maths and Literacy, KS3 students in all subects, GCSE pupils in Maths, English and the sciences, A level students in History, Politics and English, and adult learners in English. I am also experienced in preparing students specifically for exams including secondary school entrance, SATs, GCSEs and A Levels.

Tutoring Approach: I approach my work as a professional tutor and expect to see the same level of commitment from my students in their work. The tutoring process can be tailored entirely to the needs of the pupil or parent, but will usually involve an assessment of the student's strengths and weaknesses, a thorough discussion with parent/pupil regarding both parties' expectations of the tuition sessions, and regular feedback on the pupil's progress.

I have found that for many of my pupils a lack of confidence is a major obstacle to their learning - I do my best to encourage each student to recognise their own potential. I also support my pupils in developing the study skills to be able to help themselves when they return to the classroom or end their course of tuition.

I have detailed knowledge of the current curriculum and exam requirements and provide homework, practice papers and help for exam preparation and revision as required.

Please note - I can offer group tuition for up to four students at significantly reduced rates if required. For example, 1 hour of primary maths tuition costs 20 for a single child, but only 14 per child if 2 are taught at once.

I also offer reductions for block bookings of 10 hours or more paid up front, and for lessons of over one hour's duration e.g. 18 for a one hour primary tutorial but only 30 for a two hour tutorial, saving you 6.
