Information About Lucy
Personal Description: Having grown up in Zimbabwe during my early teens I experienced a variety of different teaching methods and subjects not available within the United Kingdom. Since arriving in England I quickly obtained an art scholarship at Grenville College, Devon. I continued art to A level standard, studying at Richard Huish College, Somerset.
Art is an integral part of who I am and having been surrounded by artists my entire life I have an enthusiasm and passion for learning and teaching the subject.
During my gap year I took with me my enthusiasm for the subject to underprivileged young children in South Africa.
Along side my artistic pursuits I have developed a thirst for knowledge. This took me to Exeter university where I studied for and obtained a 2.1 BA(HONS) in Theological studies. I focused particularly on the Philosophy and ethics side of religion.
Following on from a successful three year course I undertook a teacher training program at Marjons, Plymouth. After completing the course I qualified as a secondary school Religious Studies teacher.
Tutoring Experience: During my time at university, I participated in a school based learning program where I had hands on experience assisting in the education of primary school children.
After starting my Post Graduate Certificate in Education I taught lessons both by myself and with other teachers. This covered key stages 3, 4 and 5.
Tutoring Approach: As a newly qualified teacher I am very flexible with my working attitude. I want to obtain the best from my tutees in a trusting and friendly environment. I work at the pace according to the needs of the tutee and am totally focused on what they want and need.
I am willing to tutor both from my home address and to from that of the tutees. All I will require is a clear aim from the tutee as to the outcome of their tutorship.
