Personal Description: Highly experienced teacher who specialises in one-to-one and small group tuition for all ages and purposes. A language specialist, I teach English as a foreign language, french and italian. I provide preparation for University of Cambridge ESOL exams (FCE, CAE and CPE) and other public exams - including GCSE in modern languages. I have extensive experience of creating and teaching tailormade courses in English for all business and professional purposes and in preparation for the workplace. In parallel to teaching, I have worked in many administrative and managerial roles and therefore have a clear understanding of organisational structure and practice - and the way language is used within it.

Tutoring Experience: I have 30+ years of teaching English (as a foreign language) in the UK and abroad. This included a year in France and three years teaching for the British Council and British School in Italy. Back in the UK I have taught for many different language organisations, managed a Kent Country Council European training programme and run my own language training business providing european funded courses to Belgian and French government training organisations. More recently I have worked as a freelance language tutor specialising in English as a foreign language for all levels and purposes as well as French and Italian. I specialise in teaching adults who require French or Italian for holiday or general interest purposes. Many of these clients go from total beginner level to GCSE level in about a year. I also provide revision and support classes for children and young people preparing for public or scholarship exams. I regularly teach au pairs who benefit from reduced rates. I am also on the panel of examiners for the University of Cambridge ESOL examinations.

Tutoring Approach: I combine extensive experience with a creative and sympathetic approach. I assess each student's objectives and personal learning style and and put together a tailormade course which meets their needs in terms of pace and content. I use a wide variety of material and approach in order to create effective and interesting learning programmes which enable the student to make fast progress in the target language and enjoy the learning process.

The basis hourly rate is discounted for sessions of 1.5 hours. A 1.5 hour session in French or Italian costs £32 while 1.5 hours sessions in EFL for au pairs and students cost £25. A further discount is available for series of lessons booked and paid in advance.
