Information About Marianne
Personal Description: I am recently back in the North Staffordshire area, after living in many different places, including London and Moscow. I work at Stoke college as an English teacher, and also sometimes teach visiting foreign students at Keele University. As well as this, I am Russian culture editor for a large international website. I live with my family and 4 beautiful cats, and in my free time I like going to concerts, walking in the countryside, and playing my balalaika!
Tutoring Experience: I took my Trinity ESOL certificate in 2001. I have taught English in well-respected language schools in London and Moscow, as well as teaching for a large international cement company, in their factory in southern Russia. During my time in London, I was involved in training and supporting new teachers. I also taught Russian very successfully to groups of complete beginners (they were nervous at first, but all made great progress!)
My experience includes teaching English for general, academic, and business purposes, to individuals and small groups, teaching primary-age children, teaching teenagers studying towards exams, and teaching for very specific individual needs.
Tutoring Approach: I am a friendly and responsive tutor, and feel it is important to have a relaxed and supportive atmosphere, for real learning to take place. I always take time at the start of each course to understand the student's goals, as well as their strengths and weaknesses, so that I can make the lessons as useful as possible. I have always recieved excellent feedback from my students and I really enjoy working with people to achieve the results they want and need.
