Personal Description: My name is Marie-Claire. I am 22 years old and I study French and Spanish at the University of Strathclyde. I have just come home after spending a year living and working in Madrid. I am an honours year student and at weekends I work part-time in a restaurant.

Tutoring Experience: I have just returned from a year working in a Spanish primary school as an English language assistant. I worked mainly with children aged seven years. I worked in the classroom directly with the children for sixteen hours per week and spent a further four hours per week making and preparing classroom materials. Aside from these hours I also took a private class with small groups of children every week night.

Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is naturally changable and depends largely on the level and age of the student. For younger children at primary level, the main thing is to keep talking to them in the language they are learning, read stories and encourage them to join in. While for older, more advanced students I would rely more on grammar, oral skills and general comprehension again aiming to expose them to as much of the language as possible by providing reading materials and encouraging the pupil to speak all the time in their second language.
