Information About Marilyn

Personal Description: Hi! I am a recent graduade in Classics from Oxford University and am offering tuition in both Latin and Classical Greek to any level, from complete beginners to university students. I also have considerable experience of Biblical Greek, and would be very happy to tutor theology sudents or anyone else interested in learning to read the New Testament in the original!
I hold A-levels in Maths and Further Maths, and will tutor up to GCSE/Highers level, and possibly beyond if requested.
I have moderate experience teaching English as a foreign language, and would love to hear from non-native speakers who want to attain a high level of the language, written or spoken, whether for business or social purposes.
I am enthusiastic about all my subjects, but am also a patient tutor who will go at your pace. I love to see people achieving what they want to in education, and hope to be a part of that for you.

Tutoring Experience: I have tutored Latin and Greek throughout university on an informal basis to fellow students, and have often been called on to explain difficult points not clarified in class. As an EFL teacher I gained experience teaching English as a foreign language to students of a variety of ages and nationalities, adapting lessons and teaching methods to individual needs.

Tutoring Approach: I firmly believe that people learn in different ways, and that tutoring methods have to be adapted to the individual. I expect students to be communicative about what they find difficult or interesting, so that we can work together on the particular areas relevant to the student in a way that is enjoyable. Enthusiasm for the subject is an essential quality in a tutor and makes lessons far more interesting and rewarding for both parties.
