Personal Description: I graduated from the Swansea University with a First Class degree in History in July 2008, and am due to start my PGCE teaching qualification in September 2010.

My interests include sport, politics, film and cooking, and am passionate about history. I love to keep active, playing football and swimming regularly. My hobbies include reading, mainly biographies, and cooking Indian cuisine.

Tutoring Experience: I spent three weeks as a Student Teacher within the Humanities department of Camborne Science and Community College, working predominantly in the History department.

I taught the starter and plenary 10 minute episodes of the classes, that comprised 1/3 of each lesson. This greatly developed my teaching ability and style, and convinced me that teaching is the career I wish to pursue.

Tutoring Approach: Friendly, confident and sociable, I have a professional yet personable approach that emphasises learning the way the pupil or child finds easiest. My tutoring, without being informal, is designed to make the child feel at ease - and as such I focus very much on working with the child as opposed to top-down lecturing.

I try not to make things too heavy or leaden. If there is a particular area the child is interested or excited about, then it is best to work from that starting point. Once they are then engaged in the topic, the rest of the information will be absorbed far more efficiently.

• BA (Hons) History - First Class Honours
• A Levels - History, Sociology, Government and Politics
• GCSES (A-C) - English, English Literature, Mathematics, Double Science, History, Design Technology - Graphic Products, ICT.
