Information About Robert
Personal Description: I am an ex-Imperial College London Aeronautical Engineering student now studying for a degree in Renewable Energy. As a mathematically intensive subject, I have studied mathematics to a Further Mathematics A level standard and beyond, and was an exceptional student in Physics and Electronics at A level, scoring (UMS) perfect marks in all but one of my exams in both subjects under the WJEC.
Tutoring Experience: I was a private teacher for HomeTeach London last year, where I taught the same subjects. Previously I have also been a volunteer worker on environmental education camps in south Africa, and acted as an advisor and Business Studies tutor to a national award-winning Young Enterprise company.
Tutoring Approach: I understand very well that not all students look at the same problem the same way, so I work hard to tailor my descriptions of the processes to suit the individual, and won't be satisfied with my explanation until I am sure that the student genuinely understands what he or she needs to do to solve the problem. I believe that whilst humanities and languages can at base level be a basic memory test, mathematical subjects cannot be tackled without some appreciation for what the equations mean, so even if they have to be described in abstract terms, I endeavour to instil this basic understanding in my tutees.
