Personal Description: I am currently a student at Oxford University and previously attended The Manchester Grammar School for Boys. I am looking for a job which provides a dynamic and lively atmosphere and I believe that tutoring is the best opportunity for this

Tutoring Experience: This is my first role as a tutor, however I am comfortable working with children from 11 upwards, having only recently left school. At school I was a Form Prefect for 2 years, which means that I looked after classes of 13-14 year olds whilst their teacher was not present. This involved keeping them disciplined over the lunchbreak and even going on class trips where often I would have to lead my own group of children when the teacher was occupied elsewhere.

Tutoring Approach: I understand the patience required when dealing with students who find particular concepts difficult to grasp, and am willing to spend as long as it takes on even the smallest topics until the student does not just understand but understands confidently. It is important to allow the child to think for themselves. I will endeavour to present them with situations which stimulate them to come up with their own answers rather than simply spoon-feeding them, as only then will information be properly committed to memory.
