Information About Ros
Personal Description: I am a 55-year-old woman, a native English speaker, educated to degree level. My interests are foreign travel, wildlife, walking and reading. As well as voluntary teaching, I am involved with my local conservation group, organising litter-picks and leading flower and butterfly walks among other activities.
Tutoring Experience: I have had 2 years' experience of voluntary 1-to-1 tutoring English to adults in their own homes, plus 4 weeks in 2006 teaching English to classes at various levels in Pakistan (Kashmir), and have just done another 4 weeks in Kashmir in 2008.
I gained my Trinity College Certificate in TESOL at Sheffield Hallam University in April 2008. This has included 6 hours' observed teaching in classes of pre-intermediate and intermediate students.
I'm now doing some voluntary class teaching of upper-intermediate students, also at Hallam University.
Tutoring Approach: I enjoy teaching 1-to-1 as I can tailor the teaching exactly to the student's needs and wishes, and develop a relationship with the student. I would also be happy to tutor small groups of friends or family members.
Please note:
1. I am happy to travel to the student's home, but I don't have a car so I'm limited to areas easily accessible by bus from my home. And I would expect to be paid for my traveling time as well as bus fares.
2. Students are very welcome to come to my home. I own a dog which would be kept out of the room during lessons, but students allergic to dogs might have problems.
