Information About Samantha
Personal Description: I'm a 21 year old hard working and talented newly qualified primary teacher. I trained at the University of Cumbria, where I recieved my 2.1 degree in Primary Education (hons), with a specialism in history. I have a recent clear criminal record check, and list 99 check. I am also registered with the General Teaching Council (GTC) I am currently working as a supply teacher in primary schools and nurseries. I am also near to completing a TEFL qualification, which enables me to teach English all over the world, but would be a particular advantage if your child learns English as a foreign language.
I am also able to teach English and Maths skills to adults, using effective primary teaching techniques (Simular to those seen on the Channel 4 tv series 'Can't Read, Can't Write')
Tutoring Experience: I have experience in teaching across key stages one and two, in both Cumbria, Manchester and the Isle of Man. Through this, I have gained alot of experience of working with a wide range of children, including those with special educational needs, behaviour issues and English as an additional language. Over the course of my degree I have gained a secure knowledge of the Primary National Strategy and all National Curriculum subjects. I have experience of teaching children who have been placed on the Gifted and Talented register for Literacy, Numeracy and a range of foundation subjects in both key stage one and two.
Tutoring Approach: I believe that a fun, positive, creative and motivating approach to teaching is the best way to ensure progress. I hold high expectations and belief in all children I teach. I spend the time talking and listening to children and use their interests in my planning to make my lessons as enjoyable and relevant to them as possible. I use a range of different teaching strategies, and tailor my approach to the child I am teaching.
Below are quotes from my placement report, written at the end of my placement teaching a mixed ability year three class. I hope they will further demonstrate, and provide evidence for, my tutoring approach.
"She has a lovely manner with the children and they have become fond of her and thus well-motivated in their learning."
"I have been very impressed with the amount of hard work she has put into making sure SEN (Special Educational Needs) children are included and involved in her lessons."
"Samantha conveys high expectations to pupils in terms of both behaviour and learning and does this in a positive manner. She encourages pupils and I was very impressed by the levels of motivation she was able to stimulate within the class."
"Samantha's classroom control and management is excellent. She has a lovely calm manner with the class and they have responded to this very positively."
"I have been impressed with Samantha's hard work, proffesionalism and high standards... and know she will make an excellent teacher by the end of her course."
