Information About Sandrine
Personal Description: I am a bi-lingual teacher (with dual French-British nationality) of Biology and French. I obtained a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of East Anglia and the Aix-Marseilles II in 1992. Whilst in Marseilles, I studied Oceanography (in French!), which relies on a good understanding of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as well as Ecology and Biology. During my final year at UEA, I specialised in Molecular Genetics. l qualified as a teacher at Cambridge University in 1997. Since 1997, I have taught Biology and French, and authored and translated Science and Technology teaching materials. French and Biology are my passions in life, in particular conservation, French literature and French cinema I like to keep abreast of current issues in Science and Technology and also in French Society and Politics so that my students stay up to date.
Tutoring Experience: I have over 10 years' experience of teaching Biology and French and of authoring teaching materials from Reception and Key Stage 1 through to A' level and adult learners. I have taught in primary and secondary schools and as a private tutor of learners of all ages. I have experience of preparing students for SATs, Edexcel and OCR examinations and of marking examination questions. I have a lot of experience in helping students with examination technique and practical coursework. With my French students, I like to pay close attention to accent, pronounciation and confidence in speaking. I encourage my French students to speak French as the French do, which is as it should be!
Tutoring Approach: I aim to meet the needs of the individual. I identify the individual's strengths and weaknesses as well as their preferred learning styles, and work with these to enable the student to achieve their full potential. I have a good track record in helping students to achieve their goals. I take a fun and friendly approach to tutoring (good learning takes place when people are happy!) whilst taking my role very seriously. I believe that student and tutor must work together to achieve the desired goal - we work as a team. It is my belief that private tutoring offers the student the unique opportunity to ask any questions they may have regarding their studies and so clear any blockages in their learning.
