Information About Sarb

Personal Description: I graduated from Reading University with a food science degree followed by a teacher training course( PGCE). The degree itself involved lots of biochemistry along with process engineering. This required a very high level of knowledge of biology, chemistry and physics, which has helped me a great deal with my teaching.

I consider myself a very vibrant person and I like my enthusiasm to be passed to my students. I am very dedicated and passionate about teaching, which is very transparent to my students and I believe this to be reason for my success in teaching science. I am a firm believer that all students have the ability to succeed but some need more guidance than others.

Tutoring Experience: In my years of teaching i have covered key stage 3 (SATS) and GCSE up to A-level. I have taught students with a huge range of abilities. To achieve success, I have used an array of teaching methods including but not limited to; I.T, auditory, visual and kinestic learning techniques.
I consider myself a very creative teacher, during the last year I have set up forums for discussing science topics with other students as well as making Podcasts available for download. This has proved extremely successful, as far as being mentioned in a national science magazine.

During the last few years I exceeded target grades set by the school for both KS3 and KS4. I believe this stems from my passion for the subject and my creativity in my teaching methods.

Tutoring Approach: Over the last three years of tutoring i have seen a significant improvement in all my students. Improving in science is not just about gaining the extra knowledge but gaining the confidence to explore the field by being creative and using ones imagination. By tutoring students as individuals, it has allowed me to identify their weaknesses and improve on them. I use methods that are appropriate to the students learning style, so I can help them fulfil their potential.
