Information About Sharon

Personal Description: I presently hold an MA in History and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Glasgow. I have extensive tutoring experience and have worked with individuals and groups from a variety of backgrounds, abilites and ages within this capacity. I presently work with children as a Support for Learning Tutor. I worked for a year as an Special Educational Needs assistant within a Renfrewshire Secondary, working across all disciplines. I recently worked as an educational assistant within a Glasgow Museums, designing the schools educational programme, in line with the Curriculum for Excellence, focusing upon Historical studies. Furthermore, I researched and designed a family learning project within a Glasgow School on how parents could best support their children's learning during the transition years. I have undertaken CPD in Dyslexia and Specific Learning Difficulties. On a personal level I am studying a Masters in Medieval History and am due to begin my PGDE (secondary) History programme in 2010.

Tutoring Approach: I encourage learners to set short and long term goals, to work at their own pace but keeping a close eye on deadlines. I encourage the development of time management, study planning and learning styles. I am experinced in experiential learning techniques and I like to incorporate aspects of learning by doing.
