Personal Description: I have just finished studying and am taking a year out of my studies. I intend to study for a PGCE in september'09 which will allow me to teach English at secondary level. I have previously worked as a care assistant in the community and at the local hospital and have therefore had many CRB checks, my most recent one was October'07. I have also attended an advanced child protection training course.

Tutoring Experience: I have recently accepted the post of teaching assistant to the English Department at The Gryphon School, Sherborne

Whilst studying for my A levels i participated in a 'community service scheme' this involved helping children in a yr 3 class with their studies. I have also previously tutored a year 9 student, providing help with preparation for the SATs. Whilst at University I have helped disabled students with their university work.

Tutoring Approach: I believe that I will take a friendly approach to tutoring, I will be clear with instructions and pick up upon any problem areas in order to ascertain the root of the problem in order to help the student overcome these problems, thus facilitating the best possible achievement/s.
I feel that my role of teaching asssistant, specifically in English, in a secondary school will strengthen my knowledge of, and ability to work within, the secondary English curriculum.

Qualifications:

• 10 GCSEs - 3 A Grades inc. English Literature, Religious Studies and Food Technology, 3 B Grades and 4 C's.
• A level English Literature (also General Studies, Biology and Geography)
• BA(Hons) English Literature - University of Winchester - 2:1 (predicted grade)
