Information About Stephanie
Personal Description: I am a 18-year-old student taking a gap-year before going to University to study English. I received an A grade in my A-level English examination, and a Distinction in my Advanced Extension Award. I also obtained good grades in History and Philosophy. I have a good grounding in all periods and styles of English Literature, and also have an exemplary past performance in language.
Tutoring Experience: I ran a debating club during my VI form studies, and taught several Year 8 (Key Stage 3) classes in debating and English Language, as well as mentoring students lower down the school. I have also helped teach primary English and Mathematics to my Home Educated younger siblings, two of whom are on the Autistic Spectrum. This has given me knowledge of working with Special Needs children- I have specific knowledge of the Son Rise programme, but am willing and eager to learn about different childrens' specific needs.
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is to take the child's own skills and best methods of learning and use these to hit either their individual goals or the set targets of the national curriculum. I have a strong belief that any child can excel in English or History, regardless of if they are 'sciency' or 'artsy', by approaching the material in different ways. In each child's case, my frame of reference will come from the child and their parents or guardians. I am willing to tutor in Central London as well as in the local area.
