Information About Sunil
Personal Description: I am a mature 25-year old postgraduate student doctor at the University of Nottingham. In 2004 I graduated with a first class degree in Chemistry (BSc Hons) from University College London (University of London), in addition I obtained a upper second class Biomedical Sciences degree from the University of Nottingham in 2008. I have experience in the pharmaceutical industry working for GlaxoSmithKline for one year as well as experience in prescription dispensing in community pharmacy (+4-years).
I am an outgoing person who has a modern approach to learning and adopted a unique method of tutoring and problem solving. I help my students whenever I can, be it out of teaching times or on the phone for quick queries. I am approachable and easy going which my students find beneficial.
Tutoring Experience: I started private tuition in 2004 and now have four years experience in a variety of sciences. My main focus of course is chemistry where I have taught students aged 12-25-years old. I also have experience in physics and maths up to GCSE level and Biology to A-level. I am familiar with a vareity of examination boards and have experience in exam technique and question style with each board. I have taught over 30 different students in my time as a tutor and have had much success - students of mine have gained entry to top private schools as well as top university institutes such as UCL, Manchester, Nottingham and Imperial College London.
In addition to this, I also offer UCAS application form guidance, personal statement checking and review and further advice about the application process. This also includes preparation for medical school applications and key interview questions and technique. I have a vast range of material that proves key for university appplications.
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tuition is a modern one. After speaking to a number of A-level candidates, I found that many mentioned their previous tutors to be lacking the knowledge of structure and style of current A-level teaching. Using this feedback I adopt a method of distinguishing areas that the student finds difficult, focus on the basics around this area and then work towards the topic in question. This is usually followed by a short question and answer session which tests the students understanding of the session. If necessary I write short exam style questions for them to try closer to exam period. I supplement sessions with methods of remembering difficult topics, thus improving revision technique and boosting confidence for the student. Closer to exam time, past papers are thoroughly covered and any problems are addressed.
Please note my hours are preferably weekends or evenings, but I am available during school holidays to teach in the day.
