Personal Description: My name is Tom, I am 22 years old and I have a genuine enthusiasm and passion for teaching and studying law. I have just completed my law degree from the University of Sussex gaining first class honours. I was awarded the university law prize for the third year in a row, graduating at the top of my class. I have also completed an A-Level in law, gaining a top A grade and achieving 100% in 5 out of the 6 modules. I will be going on to complete my master's (llm) at the University of California, Berkeley and eventually plan to complete a P.H.D.
In my spare time I enjoy playing sports (particularly golf and football), music and reading.
Tutoring Experience: I was a student mentor at University which involved tutoring other students at degree level. Therefore, I feel I have the necessary expertise to teach law at this level. I have a great understanding of what is required for exam success at this level as I have recently gone through the system. I feel this will really benefit students in making the most of their potential and succeeding in exams.
Tutoring Approach: My teaching style is friendly, informal and considerate. I expect students to aim for high standards and do the best they can. My lessons will be detailed and will closely follow the syllabus. I like students to prepare beforehand and involve them in exercises, debates and discussions to engage the student in the subject as well as learning black letter law. I am also keen to do exam practice and techniques.
I am flexible, and if a student feels they want to concentrate on a particular subject they are either struggling with or want to explore I am happy to do this.
