Personal Description: I am 27 years old and I am doing a PhD in theoretical physics (black holes etc.) at Cambridge University.
Tutoring Experience: I have been supervising 1st year undergraduate Maths for the Natural Sciences tripos since 2006. I have also supervised Vector Calculus for the 1st year Mathematics tripos. The supervisions typically involve 2 students, although I have also done some one to one teaching. Additionally I have been a demonstrator in some examples classes for a 3rd year Theoretical Physics course.
Tutoring Approach: I think that different people have different modes of learning and so one should try to tailor one's approach to each individual student. But on the whole, structure, clarity and organisation are important, as is allowing the student to work things out on their own instead of just telling them how to do something.
Qualifications:
A-levels (Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry)
From Petra Freeland (5/5): Vladislav has so far proved a patient and conscientious tutor who has managed to quite dramatically improve my son's understanding of Further Maths Mechanics. We are very grateful to him.
