Personal Description: Apart from normal teaching experience in Scotland I worked in Toronto from 1969 - 1971.
During my career I was involved in many extra curricular activities e.g. rugby and football refereeing, producing school operas, running school chess club.
I am now retired and find time to indulge my hobbies of golf, 5-a-side football and tournament chess.
I still enjoy teaching. Hence my interest in private tuition with motivated pupils and parents.

Tutoring Experience: Experienced principal teacher since 1971 - Coatbridge High School and Glenrothes High School.
Experienced marker and examiner with SQA (previously SCEEB) since 1970's.
Tuition in both maths and physics since 1970's.
Teacher training college lecturer at Jordanhill College of Education (1974-1978)

Tutoring Approach: I use a student centred approach which relies on the school to be delivering the basic work of the curriculum in a satisfactory fashion (including normal assessments).
I divide the tuition into 2 stages. The first is to support the student with their perceived difficult areas of work in the early part of the year. The second is to organise a revision programme of work which is focused towards the SQA exams in May.

Qualifications:

• Graduated with B.Sc (honours in Physics and Maths) in 1966 - University of Glasgow.
• Graduated with Teacher's Sec. Cert. from Jordanhill College of Education in 1967.
