Personal Description: I am German with a (German) M.A. in English, French and Russian. I'm married to an Englishman and have been living in the West Midlands since 2002. After my degree I worked in Publishing and Marketing until my son was born in 2006. Even when I was working I taught German and French in the evenings or at weekends, as I love teaching. Now a mum, the tutoring is a good way to earn some money without sacrificing too much time with my son.

Tutoring Experience: I have tutored for 13 years in both Germany and the UK - mainly German, English as a Foreign Language and French. I did one year teacher training in Germany as part of my degree which included a 3 week placement in a secondary school. I love teaching, but prefer small groups or one-to-one to a classroom environment.

Tutoring Approach: In my 13 years of tutoring I taught pupils from 7 years old to pensioners. Obviously the approach will differ significantly depending on the pupil and I plan and prepare lessons for each pupil individually, according to their needs and interests. When teaching school children, the lessons are based on the national curriculum and I focus on whatever the pupil is struggling with (writing, reading, speaking, listening). With adults, it depends on what they want to get out of it; some want to be able to make themselves understood on holiday, others need the language for work etc. I have taught anything from total beginners to people who were fluent and just wanted conversation lessons in order to not forget the language. Depending on demand, I'm also happy to give/organise group lessons.
